LAST DAY. It's been a long week for some reason. Possibly the weather? Probably the weather. I was supposed to be busting out the deck lounger right about now! I guess I'll see what the weekend brings and just kick it until then. Keep on chooglin'.

Mike Flanagan simply does not miss with Stephen King adaptations! You carve that niche for yourself, dude!

Goals for tonight: Do my nails, finally finish X-Men '97, and a run. Can I do it? I wanna do it!

Album #485/1001: M.I.A. - Arular )

June Movie Count: 2 (The Life of Chuck, Tetsuo: The Iron Man)
merridia: (Default)
The cold is continuing, and morale is not improving! I guess that beats being on fire like the rest of the world MUST be to keep blowing all of this smoke on us, but nevertheless, I bleh. Hopefully bailing on work early to go to the movies tonight will help. Save me, mystery movie! And buy my bullshit, coworkers!

Album #484/1001: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country )

June Movie Count: 1 (Tetsuo: The Iron Man)
merridia: (Default)
Back at work. Slept weird. Somehow got front row tickets to All Out, though, which is pretty much all that matters in the world? Even if I need to eat nothing but cups of noodles and canned soup for the foreseeable future to make sure I can afford the trip. Some hot sauce can really jazz up one of those cups, anyway!

Album #482/1001: Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion )

May Movie Count: 32 (Out of Here, Hannah and Her Sisters, Amadeus (director's cut this time; it's not as tight but I do like the additional context of the extra scenes), What Have They Done to Your Daughters? (but with the English dub this time), Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, The Insider, River of Grass, Strip Nude for Your Killer, Kaili Blues, The Last of the Mohicans, Death Walks at Midnight, Deep Red, Bring Her Back, Final Destination Bloodlines, The Image You Missed, Don't Torture a Duckling, The Assassin, Who Saw Her Die?, Trenque Lauquen, Amadeus, Clown in a Cornfield, Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (Default)
The week off is half over, and I'm feeling like a person again! There's lots to do and lots I've already done. Mostly recently, ducked over to the movies to see the Mission: Impossible franchise off into the sunset (WHIGHAM HIVE RISE UP), and while that live action Lilo & Stitch looks like the typical Disney infinite-money glitch dreck they will keep pumping out until standards improve, gosh it's nice to see a packed cinema again. We're so back!!!

Tomorrow will be for visiting my grandmother and then getting drunk enough that I won't be able to go out and commit arson if Hangman doesn't win the Double or Nothing main event. You know, typical weekend stuff!

Album #481/1001: Tim Buckley - Happy Sad )

May Movie Count: 28 (Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, The Insider, River of Grass, Strip Nude for Your Killer, Kaili Blues, The Last of the Mohicans, Death Walks at Midnight, Deep Red, Bring Her Back, Final Destination Bloodlines, The Image You Missed, Don't Torture a Duckling, The Assassin, Who Saw Her Die?, Trenque Lauquen, Amadeus, Clown in a Cornfield, Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (Default)
There's a work barbecue today, but it's all the way at the body shop, which is a good ten minute walk away, and it ends an hour before my lunch break, so I will probably not get any, which is annoying. Also, we were supposed to go to the movies tomorrow night, but now mom wants to do a double feature on Monday instead. These two extremely minor things are currently doing some sort of fusion dance in my head to make the next three days feel like an insurmountable obstacle that I'm just slamming headlong into and ugh. I need a new life.

Temperature was back below freezing this morning. I have busted out the cozy cardigan and hate everything. Except the cozy cardigan. And Elvis Costello, apparently!

Album #480/1001: Elvis Costello & The Attractions - This Year's Model )

May Movie Count: 16 (The Assassin, Who Saw Her Die?, Trenque Lauquen, Amadeus, Clown in a Cornfield, Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (He does sleep!)
I would simply like to not be constantly freezing in the middle of May, that's all! I wish that wasn't such a big ask of both man and nature, but here we are!

Work is just annoying in general today, honestly, but the hours are ticking steadily by and we are, in fact, closed for Victoria Day, so I have that to look forward to. Nothing will impede my seeing the Monday Mystery Movie this week!

Torn between rewatching all the final destinations and all of the impossible missions ahead of their respective next installments, I will probably do neither. Is it too early to start thinking about tonight's supper? OH WELL.

Album #479/1001: Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking )

May Movie Count: 15 (Who Saw Her Die?, Trenque Lauquen, Amadeus, Clown in a Cornfield, Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (Default)
Staring down the barrel of another eighty hours* in this big frigid building, but feeling okay about it. Sleepy, but okay. This too shall pass, and it'll hopefully be sunny on the other side.

In watching more movies this month, I have fallen behind on my TV shows, and Yellowjackets suddenly sucking hasn't helped matters any. Also it's Best of the Super Jr. season! There simply isn't enough time for it all!

It's beginning to seem like I will be spending my entire day thinking about pasta. That's not going to make the next nine hours any easier, but should make the eventual reward that much more triumphant.

*oh shit I need to ask if we're closed on Monday, actually

Album #478/1001: Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future )

May Movie Count: 14 (Trenque Lauquen (this one counts as two idgaf), Amadeus, Clown in a Cornfield, Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (Throw some glitter; make it rain.)
And just like that, it's Tuesday again. Back to work in the morning. I don't want to do that, but it was a fine week off, good and restful, so I should be able to tackle it head-on.

The weather is nice and the days are getting loooooong. Just a couple more weeks before I bust the deck lounger out and declare basking season OPEN.

For some reason I cannot determine, I have started playing Merge Mansion in 2025. Weird! Will I finally find out what that granny is up to???

Even considering the full-body douche-chills that the phrase 'American Pope' still gives, I do think I'm probably going to like this one.

Takeshita calling El Phantasmo by his shoot name again after Resurgence is honestly so, so important to me. But not as important as Drilla's face. And body. And voice. Ugh!!!!

I'm thinking a bath and a stir fry tonight to end the week right. We'll see what the evening brings!

Album #477/1001: Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway )

May Movie Count: 12 (Amadeus, Clown in a Cornfield, Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (Default)
Oop, it's Saturday! Been sleeping... weird this week off. Not badly, but for short periods, so I keep needing to take mid-afternoon naps, which throw my whole schedule out of whack. Not necessarily in a bad way, though. Been mostly just watching wrestling and some movies so far, with a few chores peppered in between as the spirit moves me. Now if you'll excuse me, I've gotta go see a clown about a cornfield.

Album #476/1001: Mudhoney - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge )

May Movie Count: 10 (Torso, The Best Way to Walk, Donnie Darko, Mind Game, A Fish Called Wanda, All the Colors of the Dark, Thunderbolts*, Until Dawn, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: (Believe to my soul.)
Made it to the weekend! AND I slept so good last night?? I didn't crash, but was actually super duper tired by the time bedtime rolled around for a change and managed to get nearly six whole hours in! Which is fortunate, since it'll be an Until Dawn/Thunderbolts* double feature tonight, and popcorn can only do so much to keep me sharp. Like how a plant needs both water and sunlight.

It's so hard avoiding Bluesky in case of Marvel spoilers in the middle of a WWE release bloodbath; I've just been periodically peeking at the Fightful feed and that's IT. Sorry Eddy Thorpe, but I am very much looking forward to seeing Karl Fredericks again!

Have finally put my winter jacket away because in spite of the snow on Wednesday, it was 26 degrees on my way home last night, and I'm going full cozy to make up for it with a big soft knit cardigan over a pink wrestling t-shirt covered in flowers. It's called FASHION.

I have somehow been here for an hour already? Maybe this day won't be so bad.

Album #475/1001: The Libertines - The Libertines )

May Movie Count: 2 (What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, The Fog)
merridia: by <user name=ancientgate> (Headshot.)
It's Friday! At least all the snow is gone. My brain is really starting to short circuit, I think, I'm just bouncing between the same three phone games and screwing around in Notion; every time I try to put any actual thoughts together, my mind just goes completely blank. Real FOOTAGE NOT FOUND hours up in here.

Just ten more hours until I can go home and make some perogies, I guess!!!

Album #474/1001: Elvis Costello - Brutal Youth )

May Movie Count: 1 (The Fog)

It's snowing, happy May. I'm tired and cold and hungry and it's only day two of the work week, but I've got Thunderbolts* to look forward to this weekend, and I may even leave work half an hour early to catch Until Dawn beforehand, just really load up on the filmic junk food with my long, beautiful weekend of original cinema behind me. I've just gotta tough it out until then! And watch more good movies at home in the meantime, I've mostly just been mainlining RiffTrax shorts of late.

AEW has really been firing on all cylinders lately, just putting absolutely insane matches on television twice a week like it's NOTHING, and the switch to small packed venues instead of half-empty arenas continues to make sure the vibes are always immaculate. Now if they'd just come back to Canada!!

Thinking about Ted and his Caving Page today. Not sure why.

Album #473/1001: Morrissey - Your Arsenal )

Over an hour into the day and I've yet to see a customer. Let's keep that energy going, yesterday was nuts.
merridia: (Throw some glitter; make it rain.)
And I'm back! Back at work, back from my brilliant, movie-filled weekend in Edmonton, back on my bullshit, just back back back!

It was... an intense weekend. The bus ride went nice and smoothly with no delays for a change, I met up with my aunt, visited my other aunt in her sprawling new care home, grabbed supper at some packed and insanely delicious Italian place, and then hit the movie theatre for some late-night Cronenberg before crashing for the evening. Saturday and Sunday were then spent pretty much living at the Cineplex for over twelve hours each day? It ruled. I ate so much junk food and was so emotionally wrung out by the time I got back to my hotel room that I slept better than I think I ever have in my life? I didn't oversleep, just slept... so so well for a change. I've seen all of Lynch's movies so many times now, I really did not anticipate just how heavy an experience mainlining six of them in a dark room in two days would be! It was genuinely amazing, though, well worth the whim. My heart remains heavy, but only because it's so full.

I also got really high for Dune and the Pink Floyd concert movie, which was totally the right call, and I fucked up my left foot from walking for over half an hour in four-inch heels each day, which was not the right call. Neither was packing a denim jumpsuit YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM BETWEEN MOVIES, DUM-DUM.

Anyway! On Monday I killed a bit of time at Indigo (finally got a proper copy of MOX now that I'm a quarter of the way through the audiobook version as well as that Hank Green TB book everyone won't shut up about and fresh copies of Wuthering Heights (because I collect them) and On Writing (because I didn't actually have one of my own), yay books!) before the theatre opened and then caught one last movie, something light and easy to offset the existential dread still lingering from getting out of Eraserhead at midnight the night before. Then I grabbed a quick lunch with my aunt and was back on the bus home, trying and mostly failing not to obsessively refresh election results whenever there was a decent enough signal. Everything worked out okay! Everyone here is very mad about it, which is how you know it was a good result~

Yesterday was nice, one chill day to unpack and relax properly before flipping back into work mode. I watched the first Road to Wrestling Dontaku show and was completely unprepared for how much Jeff Cobb cried, oof. Also a lot of BuzzFeed Unsolved for some reason?? Not sure what the plan for tonight is going to be. Will have to just play it by ear~

Album #472/1001: Screaming Trees - Dust )
merridia: (Believe to my soul.)
No time to chat, I have to pack for the weekend because I'm getting on a bus in the morning to stay at a Holiday Inn 400km away just to watch 10 movies that aren't playing here and then come back home again! THIS IS A FINE AND NORMAL THING FOR A PERSON TO DO AND I STAND BY IT. This is the kind of stupid bullshit that a seven on/seven off work schedule is made for, honestly.

Friday night: The Shrouds
Saturday: Sinners in IMAX (I gotta see that scene on the big screen), Wild at Heart, Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr.
Sunday: Dune (1984), Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead
Monday afternoon: The Legend of Ochi

I'm so excited, y'all. Nothing but Diet Coke will be flowing through my veins come Tuesday. See y'all on the other side.

Album #471/1001: Country Joe & The Fish - Electric Music for the Mind and Body )
merridia: (It's all about flow.)
And ten hours of sleep later, I feel like a person again, just like that! Finally watching Windy City Riot, getting some laundry done so that I have something to wear on my weekend in Edmonton, and picking out what I'm going to dump into the bath today. Looking forward to poking through the basket I got from work for Administrative Professionals Day, I think those caramels will serve me well tonight.

Album #470/1001: The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen )
merridia: (This is a song about a great folk hero.)
Back to work tomorrow. Going to do a big ol' nonogram and try to motivate myself to change the bedsheets and actually finish my laundry so I have something to wear. Maybe. We'll see. Motivation is tough to scrape together at the moment.

Album #469/1001: Sugar - Copper Blue )

I have finished my nonogram. It was a picture of a fat business pigeon. If I can get my bed stripped and go check the mail, I will reward myself with El Desperado vs. Clark Connors at Jr. Genesis. Baby rhino's first deathmatch!! I can do this!!!
merridia: (Sigh.)
I am head over heels in love with my new keyboard; I'd been struggling along with a really low-profile lightweight job since I rearranged my bedroom last year and I genuinely had such a hard time with it and was not getting any better, and now typing is an absolute dream. Easily the best purchase I've made in a minute. I was obviously being facetious when I said it would help with my writer's block, but like... MAN, MAYBE??? Typing is such a joy now, I want any excuse to do more of it!

Like this entry! I've got nothing going on. I'm just watching one of the Road to Sakura Genesis shows as the sun goes down. There are just a few stray patches of snow left here and there, and I didn't even need a jacket to go check the mail earlier. Spring may be disgusting, but at least it's finally here. I think working over the weekend broke my wiring a bit, between my body and my subconscious, something in here just doesn't understand whether it's my week off or my week on or what, so I just feel kinda weird. At least I have one more day to chill and recover before going back for realsies. I should take a bath tonight now that my period is over.

Album #468/1001: Anthrax - Among the Living )
merridia: (Throw some glitter; make it rain.)
Completely wasted the day, probably because I'm going in to work tomorrow and the futility of life in general is just pressing in all around me as a result. At least at time-and-a-half, I'll be making a decent wage for a change, and we'll go see a movie afterward, so it shouldn't be too soul-crushing. It'll definitely make my next proper set that much more unbearable, however.

Album #467/1001: ABC - The Lexicon of Love )

I should do my nails tonight. Head into the battle well-armed.
merridia: (A day's work.)
This week is going to fly by, even before you bring the fact that I'm working over the weekend into it. My period is kicking my ass, and I had to finally give in and turn on the air conditioning because it's begun to hit double digits outside and the sun is turning my bedroom into a greenhouse. Gonna finally finish up last month's New Japan Cup tonight; Shota vs. Finlay is certainly one of the finals of all time, I suppose.

Hopefully a run will sort me out. Once things cool down just a bit more, lest I die.

Album #466/1001: Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water )
merridia: by <user name=ancientgate> (International politics.)
Back at work, where everybody is just coughing, constantly. I'm cold, and tired, and hungry, but possibly in a better mood than yesterday despite all that? Uncertain. At least I've only had one customer so far, things got pretty crazy yesterday.

Not to be overly dramatic, but the Owen Hart Cup finals being in Arizona this year is a personal attack and the worst thing that has ever happened to anyone in history, and not having a SINGLE Canadian in the tournament is worse than anything happening politically in the world right now.

On the less-facetious side, the confirmation that I likely don't have any wrestling trips to plan for any time soon has alleviated my guilt over spending a sizable chunk of my afternoon yesterday planning a sudden pilgrimage to Edmonton to see a bunch of David Lynch movies later this month. I think I will book some bus tickets today. Sometimes a random marketing email from Cineplex can really derail your day, what can I say!

Need to finally get off my ass and look into locking in an electricity contract, if only so I can stop getting fucking emails from our idiot government bullying me into it with their latest corporate jargon. It should end up being cheaper for me regardless, but god the UCP are scum.

Also still need to find my passport. For Reasons.

Album #465/1001: The Everly Brothers - A Date with the Everly Brothers )

Tonight: Some extra-hot ramen and an episode of Enterprise, and I'm going to leave my planning at that.
